In our time of need following the flooding in Elizabethton from Helene – Bill Lizzio and his team from Custom Smart Homes have been a God-send. From foundation repair, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, they have been able to meet every need, exceed each expectation, all while showing up like clockwork in freezing cold temps and bringing this job in on-budget! His crew are respectful and very hard-working. They’ve saved us.

Custom Smart Homes is the way to go when building a new home. You know going into it exactly what you are getting and how much you are going to pay. While we did request to add some dirt and rock to the landscaping at the end, every invoice payment we made throughout the build was to the penny. We paid the exact price we contracted for. The build goes according to schedule with the normal exception of perhaps a weather delay. They started in September and the house was done in February. That was fast. Quality is first class. Customer service is superior. They listen to the customer and are extremely responsive to customer needs and questions. Communication is also superior. We lived out of state but felt we knew what was going on at all times. They use a software application that allows the customer to see every stage of the process; pictures, invoices, updates, etc. On top of that, they will call or email you to work through anything. We were very grateful for the expertise and personal investment from our project manager Marianne Harmon. She answered every question, addressed every need, and was very accessible. 5 stars really isn’t enough to describe the job Custom Smart Homes did on our forever home. Their personal approach to your needs and wants goes above and beyond. Little extras that they do throughout the process is nice to see from a builder instead of just rushing to get the job done. Even though I wanted to get into the house sooner, it was worth the wait when we walked in today for our final walkthrough. I would highly recommend Custom Smart Homes if you are looking to build.

This team of builders are skilled professionals. We were taken care of at every turn. If we had concerns or questions we received prompt responses and or remedies. If a hiccup popped up it was handled swiftly. We are totally happy ! Marianne, Bill, Peter, Adam and Nico were especially helpful. The entire team was awesome, too many to mention by name.

But then a friend said she had a friend who had a wonderful experience with a local builder and that was how I came to hear about Custom Smart Homes and Bill Lizzio. I really cannot say enough good things about Bill Lizzio. He was exceptional in the quality of work that he required from his crew and subcontractors. I was really impressed with his commitment to doing things far above the minimal level of acceptance. No corners were cut to save time or money. He gave personal attention to detail and was excellent in communication and answering my hundreds of questions. When there was a miscommunication, he was quick to rectify the problem. And when I asked for something out of the “norm,” he was always willing to do it if it could be done. When I could not make a decision, he was patient in offering suggestions, which I usually accepted. I completely enjoyed the entire process of building and am thrilled to be in out new home. Lastly, even after we were finished and paid in full but then had a small problem, he sent someone out immediately to assess and fix the problem. I never had any doubts that his word was good, that his standard was nothing less than excellence, and he was fully committed to building a high quality home that completely satisfied the homeowner.
